The BIG Misconception of plug-based energy savers

Do a simple google search on “power savers” and you will see lots of information on these plug-and-go power savers. THE REAL FACT IS...

This kind of plug-and-go savers cannot help you save a lot of money.

Yes, you have read it right. Cannot! The reason is home users only pay for Watt (W) - (Real Power) in their utility bills. If you expect 60-70% money savings from this type of product, please stop reading and don’t buy. You will be disappointed. Get one if you want to see savings of around 10-20% only.

Most plug-based power savers are merely power factor correction capacitors (including the one you’re seeing here). There is also a wide variety of more technological advanced and sophisticated energy savings device in the market that works much better than this but also cost a lot higher which has typical and realistic pay-back period of as long as 7-10 years. Professional energy consultants perform in-dept site audits for businesses and recommends measures and relevant equipment-targeted energy savings products to their companies.

Power factor correcting makes a lot of sense and cents ($$$) for commercial users because they pay for both the active power and the reactive power.

Here is a simplified non-technical illustration. Say you are a home user. Your utility company deliver 100% electricity to your house and due to inefficiencies you only use 75% of it. The remaining 25% goes to waste. As a home user, you are only charged for the 75% as opposed to the commercial users who pay for them all. That means if your house has a low power factor, the utility company has to deliver more electricity to allow you to do the same work.

Although home users do not pay for reactive power because Watt meters in their homes do not record reactive power, it does not mean they did not use them. They just didn’t need to pay for them.

Why not do something to help yourself save some money, help your utility company to generate less wasted power, and also help the environment by consuming less fossil fuel? Some experts estimate an average of 1.297 lbs of CO2 are generated per kWh. So, if you are average home user that use about 1000 kWH per month, approximately  15,564 lbs of CO2 are generated by you alone in a year.

In short, these products help you save some money (not a lot) and do a lot help for the environment.

Most energy savings related products are really non-tangible product. All you get is a stupid looking box. It is much easier to sell energy savings benefits as a by-product. For example, an energy saving air conditioners, energy savings cars, energy savings bulbs, energy savings fridge and so on. Customers can clearly sees, touch and feel the products. Once you turn them on, you know already they are working because it cools your room, drive you around, let you see in the dark and keep your food fresh. Energy saving as a stand-alone product is often difficult to sell. All you get is a box. You turn them on and have no idea what they are doing. Sometimes, after a while you start asking “What is that stupid box doing in my house?”

If you want to buy any energy efficiency products, you must think long term. We do not believe any energy efficiency products that can generate too short of a Return on Investment (ROI). For example, it is unreasonable to expect 60-70% savings and expect ROI in a couple of months. Such high saving rates will most likely involve other measures such as monitoring of users activity, change in automation technologies, change in existing infrastructure and equipments, alternative source of energy, etc. These are alternative solutions, not energy efficiency products!

Remember, whether we use any energy savings related products or not, we will most likely continue to pay our electricity bills for the next 60 years of our lives. The amount of electricity we use will most likely continue to increase due to lifestyle dependency on automation. The electricity tariff rates charged by Utilities Company will probably continue to go up indefinitely. If you think these products suits you, please continue reading.

We have two difference units at the same price. For better performance, you should choose the most suitable model. First, you will need to know if you are running on single-phase or 3-phase. Then, you will need to check your average monthly electricity consumption by reading the kWH column from your bill. Use the guidelines as stated below.

For example, if you run on single-phase and use around 350 kWH a month, you will need the MES100 (the green colour unit). If you run on 3-phase and use around 3000 kWH a month, you will need the MES300 (the blue colour unit).

If you are running on 3-phase, for best possible performance, you will need 3 units of the MES. Plug one unit into each phase. We strongly recommend customers to try buying one unit first. You can always order additional units once you began see the benefits.

No Refund Policy
Since, we are not selling digital products, we do not have a refund policy. If you are not 100% sure this is a product that you want, please do not order. If you just want to conduct experiments, do testing, make comparisons, etc please do not order.

Ordinary Product Care Notice
This product is designed for indoor use only. Please keep in a dry environment within room temperature. Do not expose to extreme heat or direct sunlight. Customers are advised to take reasonable care of the product like any other ordinary home electrical appliances. Turn it off once in a while to prolong equipment lifespan.

12 Months Limited International Warranty
This product has a warranty period of 12 months from the date of purchase. In the case of manufacturing defects during the warranty period, we will exchange a brand new unit for our customer. All shipping charges are to be borne by customers.
